Crested Butte Mountain Guides specializes in custom tours designed to meet the specific needs of individuals, families, and groups. Our trip offerings include: guided hiking, backpacking, mountaineering, rock climbing, mountain biking, sea kayaking, and peak climbing. With over 15 years of experience, we will make your backcountry experience more enjoyable by taking you to the places that come with years of living and playing in the Elk Mountains of Crested Butte.

Jayson Simons-Jones, owner and operator of Crested Butte Mountain Guides, is a trained and certified guide of the American Mountain Guides Association. For over a decade Jayson has worked as a full-time guide and outdoor instructor for such organizations as Outward Bound and the Wilderness Medicine Institute of NOLS. He has taught thousands of people such skills and experiences as rock climbing, mountaineering, avalanche courses, backcountry skiing, and hiking, as well as training other guides in wilderness medicine, avalanche education, and basic mountain skills. He is a certified Wilderness EMT, Level 3 avalanche certified, works on the Crested Butte Ski Patrol, and as an avalanche forecaster with the Crested Butte Avalanche Center.

All of our guides have years of professional guiding experience and are upheld to the AMGA (American Mountain Guide Association) standards of guiding excellence. With a minimum medical training of Wilderness First Responder and an in depth knowledge about the local history, geology, and wildflowers of Crested Butte, a trip with Crested Butte Mountain Guides will allow you to enjoy the beauty of this area in a safe and comfortable environment.
